Pat Garrett

I am so sorry to hear you left us Roe.  I have not made time to keep up with you as I should have.  The short time I had with you in 09 was so precious, I had forgot how much fun we all had in school.  I was looking forward to seeing you this summer coming.  I believe it will be thiry five won't it.  I will miss you and I hope we all learn that time is fleeting and we all need to slow down and pick that rose instead of smelling it, for it may not be there tomorrow.  I will miss you my friend and thanks for the memories, the most recent and most touching.

Hope all of you had a merry Christmas and have a safe and happy new year.  As for where have I been?  I have been finding plenty to do toprevent mee from keeping up with my friends.  Regretfully that includes alot of my family too.  I have had a rough year and will be glad for the new one to come.  A restart, as I look at it.  Last Christmas day my Dad took ill and died on new years day with family at his side.  Not a good start to the year.  As the year went on My Step father was found to have lukemea?? and has undergone Chemo.  he is currently in bed and making it one day at a time.  My Grandmother went to the hopsital for a pacemaker and passed on November 4.  She was a special lady that lived a happy 90 years and 11 months.  If it wasn't for the lord and his strength...   Wow, looks like all bad!!!  Now on to the good news.   My youngest, David, graduated from college on May 5th with a degree in configiruation management.  Jobs are hard to find but he is working at Walmart for now.  By the way if any have info on any entry level positions let me know.  Since the election all his prospects have dried up.  But, I am enjoying  him being back home.  My other son Rick, is doing well and working for the State of Alabama as a game warden/wildlife biologist.  he currently resides in Birmingham, Al.  He was able to come home the week before christmas.  We had a good visit...   To update, I have started raising chickens.  I have sixty two at present. Not alot of eggs this time of year but they sure can eat.  I have also gotten into hobby hogs, if that is what you call it.  We are raising them for meat.  This past February we killed our first hog.  What an experience.  We killed and processed it all at home.  The hog weighed 1100 lbs.  We ended up with 300 lbs of sausage.  We salt cured our own bacon and after trimming and packaging we had 125 lbs.  We also cooked out lard and came up with 15 gallons.  Also 2 five gallon buckets of pig skins,  we call them cracklings for you yankees.  LOL  We are planning on killing 4 this winter.  But these will be about 200 lbs each.  NO, WE DO NOT SELL ANY MEAT.  LOL  We had a once acre garden this past summer also.  With the drought it did fair.  WE canned peas, tomatoes and sweet corn.  I have to admit, I have never grown such good tasting corn.  Our apple trees did well, we made apple sauce, and apple butter. We also made pear preserves from the pear trees.  I am planting blueberries and starting blackberries this spring. My Heating and Air business is doing well.  I am trying to stay small so I have time for the farm.  All this staying around the farm gets tough at times, So if I did not have enough to do, I took a part time job at Tractor Supply.  This is the first retail job I have ever worked, wow what a change in perspectives.   I enjoy it but am glad I did not make a career of it.  Let us not forget our friends, family, and the reason for the season.  Hope all are going fine and have a snowy winter.  Hope to see you all this summer coming.

Attended Roe's service today and our class was well represented. Tears....Hugs and laughter where all involved. The Big Guy will be greatly missed and we were all truly blessed to have know him! That being said I think Mr Martin would say its about time to get this party started again.......Roe would be the first to want to post a response.

Only a few short months till we meet again!! I hope we have a great turn out!!

Matt,

Glad to finally see someone on the site..

I know this isn't like face book, but for Christ sake, can't we Mates at least one time or another keep in touch with this site. It is a sad day for some that want to keep in touch with mates and can't because everything evolves around twitter, facebook. This site is here for that reason.

I can not believe that in the last COUPLE YEARS that no one has used this.

All I'am asking is that someone at least says that they are doing OK, Family doin OK, or Maybe they just want to talk. Maybe something is bothering them.

Lane Junker, Finally got on here and what did he see???? Not a Damn thing...We all want someone new to the site. I do not know Facebook nor am I really that excited about it. Same way with Lane, we talked and He is not that interested in it, but to have a site and no one using it is ridiculous.

I'am done ranting..

I was very sorry that I couldn't make it to Big Boys send off. Roe was a hell of a MAN. It makes me want to move back to Ne. that much faster. We need to take advantage of seeing each other as much as we can, or using this site as much as we can. I wish I could have spent more time with Roe and Sally than I did.

Sounds like there was a good  "78" crowd for the send off for our Friend. I know Big Boy was impressed. He deserved it.

I guess we might be seeing each other in the near future!! Hope so.

Miss all ya Mates, Take care.

                                               Bill

Hey Classmates:

Like you all, I was shocked to hear about Roe's passing.  A better man will not be found.  The one thing that comes to mind when i rermember Roe is his "Gentle & Kind" side.  Our time is so short and precious...

Thank you so much Sarge for all you did for Roe.  He could not have had a better friend than you!

Anyway, I hope 2013 finds you all healthy and happy!  Best of luck in 2013.  Hope to see you all in July for our 35th class reunion!

Opie

Jeff:

To make it simpler and easier the intent is to pay $15 per person or $30 per couple for the weekend, whether you make all the events or not. Otherwise there would be too many options of how much to pay per person per night, etc.  Kids are welcome to come Saturday to the park if you like......

Hope hti shelps?

Hello Mates,

WOW, there is life after death..Good to see some activity back on the site.

Ms. Cindy, where the hell have all the weather reports gone?? You were my lifeline..I have had to call my Mom just to check and that turns into a 1 hour ordeal even if I had just called Her the day before!! Feed me a Bone Baby!!!!!

Terry, thanks for the kind words for Barb, you dont know how much that helps out..I think we are on the rebound this time. I hope.....

Mates, I apologize for some of the comments I had earlier on the site. It is a good way to keep up with everyone though. I do not do Facebook and thats my fault. I realize you all are busy, but would still like to keep in touch how ever I can.. sorry if I pissed anyone off.

We will have to get some of the old stories going again..that would be fun.

Better go and see the Little Lady. Hospital beds are not fun when you are alone

Take care Mates,  Bill

05/18/13 06:52 PM #6881

Cindy Georgi (Rosener)

Mr. Bill...

Nice hearing from you...As far as the weather reports, I quit so you would have to call your Mom...Even though she may talk for an hour, even if you talked to her the day before, she loves hearing from you and thats all there is to say about that..:0)  Keep calling her, I'm sure she knows a hell of a lot more than me...

Sorry to hear Barb is in the hospital...I hope she recovers quickly...give her a big hug from me...

I agree we need to utilize this sight more..Even though I do have facebook, I get a bit bored with it...

Hope you are planning on coming back for the reunion..Cuz it would never be the same without you..

Enjoy the rest of your weekend...I will try real hard to keep in touch....

hugs to you, Bill

I'd like to thank Cindy Grrr in advance for graciously hosting our class at her residence.  I know first hand the amount of work goes in to planning a reunion and Cindy, Jim, Bobbi, Craig and Cindy deserve a BIG hand.  I can't wait to see everyone again.

With that being said, let's spread the word and get our fellow classmates to this reunion.  Life is short and we need to savor every minute of it.

Glad to see some activity on the site again.  It is difficult to keep active as Bill pointed out, but like to periodically check in on everyone.  I also appreciate what Cindy and all are about to do for the class reunion.   Sarge owes me a beer!!

Been thinking about the reunion a lot lately...Getting really excited to see everyone...I'm hoping we have a big turn out, and some of you that haven't been to a reunion, it would be great to see you again...We have the best times getting together and talking old times and new times as well..It is going to be casual, laid back, and lots of fun...Of course, why wouldn't it be fun with the class of 1978...Right??  So get your plans together and join in!!

Hi there. We are alittle over 100 miles northeast of Ok. City, and I have a daughter and gradkids at Shawnee which is east of there and I`m praying they are okay but I don`t have anyway to contact them. All we got was high winds and some rain.

06/06/13 09:28 AM #6890

Cindy Georgi (Rosener)

Good Morning all....

It is a beautiful sunshiny morning here in Fairbury...53 degrees this morning with the high in the mid 70's...Oh how I love this weather...

We had a rain the night before last that was a bit crazy...I thought it was Jerry that went crazy on me, but I guess he didn't..I woke up yesterday and everything was wet outside..I must of been in a coma not to hear it..Anyway, Jerry went and checked the rain gauge and it said 2 inches.WHAT???  So we listened to our local radio station, as people call in and give their rain reports...We were hearing, .20 .40 .16....Well, I told Jerry I think maybe you forgot to empty the gauge prior to this rain fall...But, he was right!!  We had 2 inches here, and16 blocks at my parents they had .50...It is true as Jerry did some investigating just to make sure he wasn't crazy!!  LOL

KELIWITZ...WHERE ARE YOU???  WE ARE PLANNING THE 35TH REUNION AND WE WANT TO SEE YOU!!   YES, I"M YELLING AT YOU!!

Well I guess I best get back to my work...Hope you all have the most awesome day!!!

HELLO MATES,

HOPE ALL IS WELL FOR EVERYONE.

TINA, WISHING THE BEST FOR YOU GUY'S AND YOUR FAMILY. HOPE EVERYONE MADE IT OUT OK.

CINDY, YELLING AT JIM WON'T HELP. JUST RELAX, HAVE A BEER AND TALK SOME CRAP ABOUT HIM. THAT WILL GET HIS ATTENTION FASTER...HA-HA

BALMY 95 AT 7:00 A.M. HERE IN THE DESERT. ONLY 10 PERCENT HUMIDITY THOUGH, THAT MAKES IT BEARABLE..AT LEAST THATS WHAT EVERYONE THINKS.

BARB AND I WILL BE BACK IN ACOUPLE WEEKS FOR MY NEICE'S WEDDING AND MOM'S 80TH..MAYBE WE WILL BE ABLE TO HAVE A COCKTAIL WITH SOME OF YA..

   LATER,BILL
