Kids are near grown now (July 2013). Elizabeth is finishing PA school and planning her wedding in December. Gwen and I moved our oldest son, Landon (22) to Los Angeles in June to begin the goal of changing the 'left-coast' one movie at a time. He's trying to get a job with Disney or DreamWorks and believes there is room left in this world for a solid, entertaining message through media. Connor, (21) and our youngest is finishing his BA in Business and Finance at UNL. He told me the other day he's thinking of a 'major' change. I'd likely be more opposed to that idea, but he wants to try Mechanical Engineering. So, we'll see how far Gwen and I can be pushed to subsidize such an adventure. Gwen and I really enjoy our time together and are beginning this talk of retirement. I always have said that I could live in van down by the river, but am having a tough time convincing Gwen that the view would be worth it!
Gwen and I have been blessed with three children; a daughter (Elizabeth) at UNL and two boys in high school (Millard West). The older son, Landon, loves music and show choir and the youngest son, Connor, is like his dad (for those of you who know me I'll let you imagine what that means). We will have all three in college at the same time (unless we send Connor to the Marine Corps instead). So, we are planning our retirement (post college) in eight years and expect (Lord willing) to travel and make our kids miserable. I am excited to catch up with old friends and share war stories from the past and present.
School Story:
I have lots of memories...including sports, parties, annoying teachers, and good ole pep rallys! I remember fear as freshmen running from the Hansen twins, Bill "hunga" Colley and Monte (Boom-Boom) Bauer. I remember hunting with Bill, Shorty (aka Layne S), Terry, Harlan and Bobby F. I remember the excitement of FHS football and the sadness when it was all over. Above all, I remember (mostly with fondness) the smiling faces of our youth and the uncertainty of having to grow up....I'm still working on that.
